Health Screens

Carotid Artery Screen

We use ultrasound to screen the carotid arteries located on either side of the neck to identify the build up of fatty plaque, a leading cause of strokes. Plaque build-up can result in a narrowing of the arteries restricting the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain.

Peripheral Arterial Screen

We use pressure cuffs like those used in a blood pressure check, together with an ultrasound device to screen for plaque build up in the arms and legs. This occurrence can result in restricted blood flow or blood 'pooling' - reservoirs of uncirculated blood where a blood clot may form, which then travels to the heart.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screen

The abdominal aorta is the main artery stemming from the heart and is the largest blood vessel in the body. We use an ultrasound scanner to identify any abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), an enlargement in the lining of the aorta causing the lining to weaken and the walls to become thinner. This can lead to rupturing of the aorta and may prove fatal.

Atrial Fibrillation - Irregular Heart Rhythm

Using electrocardiogram (ECG) equipment, a painless 4 limb procedure is used to detect irregular heart rhythm which can be intermittent and increase the risk of a stroke by up to 5 times.

Bone Density Screen

We use ultrasound technology to measure bone density and identify fracture risk and the possible onset of osteoporosis.

Blood Lipid/Glucose Screen

A finger prick blood sample is taken to measure blood lipids and glucose levels in the blood. Too much of the wrong type of lipids - LDL (bad) cholesterol can lead to heart disease, whilst the presence of glucose can be an indicator of diabetes.

Food Intolerance Screen

Food intolerance is now widely accepted as a trigger to many common symptoms, conditions and ailments. Using equipment which measures the body's 'resistance' to substances, this procedure helps to identify foods, drinks and substances contributing to ill-health.

Vitamin & Mineral Deficiency Screen

Using the same equipment as above, this screen identifies your current vitamin & mineral status.

Nutritional Analysis

We input a 4-5 day food diary to generate a personal report showing your average daily dietary intake, broken down into the main subgroups - carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Results can be compared against government guidelines of Recommended Dietary Intake (RNI) and Optimum Nutrient Intake (ONI). The report will also highlight any imbalances that may impact on health and wellbeing.
